Recently, the local news ran a story about "googling yourself." Fifty-seven percent of those polled "admitted" googling their own name. The tone of the report struck me--admitted is such a negative term to use. I consider it quite normal to google anything...especially my own name. I need to know what is out there associated with my identity. Shows that we have quite a ways to go in terms of building understanding of the digital world.
My own name yields several professional affiliations and profiles on various networks--normal stuff. There is one rather risque MySpace page under my name which is in no way connected to me though it could be fun to lay claim to "sexyblondie4u!" I did create a google profile that would steer someone looking for me away from that page.
